PDX POP NOW PICK OF THE DAY: Kusikia

Tonight marks the opening night of the famous all age annual music fest, PDX POP NOW. This year you can expect to see Portland’s finest musicians and some newbies walking in on the scene. Each day, Outsider Music Press will note one band that you must see

The festival is held down at Rotture (315 SE 3rd Ave, PDX) and will feature bands on both indoor and outdoor stages. All shows are free, however, make sure you bring some extra cash to grab some band merch!

Tonight’s pick is Kusikia, a duo whose talents have been surfacing amid the sea of local talent for the past few years. Their music is bluesy, noisy and definitely a monsoon of passionate rock. They are fresh off tour and have just released an LP, Brown Town via Make Records. Check out this video I filmed of their live performance at Backspace a few years ago:
